How it works

  1. Check the numbersUse only platform figures with a date, never impressions math or pass-along readers.
  2. Name the business's goalOne sentence from what they told you, so every choice serves it.
  3. Recommend one packageSell one thing first, with at most one step up and one step down.
  4. Price with your ratesYour prices win; example floors are only reference points to adjust.
  5. Write the pitchTheir moment, chosen attention, and honest scarcity for exclusive categories.
  6. Add integrity promisesLabeled ads, no pixels, no say over editorial, no category conflicts.
  7. Close with one askOne next step tied to a real open date.

Have this ready

  • The business, its category and its stated goal
  • Subscribers and open rate from your platform, with the date
  • Your current prices, if you have them
  • Open dates and slots
  • Whether the category is already sold as exclusive

What you get back

  • A one-page proposal ready to review and send
  • Publisher notes with sources, price math and assumptions
  • A package ladder from Community Sponsor to annual exclusivity

A taste of the output

Hi Mike,

Thanks for calling. You told me you want to be the roofer Maple Grove thinks of first and to have spring booked before it starts.

Our readers open on purpose and spend a minute or two with each issue, a very different kind of attention than a social ad scrolled past in a fraction of a second. As of October 10 we send to 8,412 subscribers twice a week, with a 51% average open rate as reported by our email platform.

We take one roofer per year. Roofing is open right now.

Recommended: Annual Monthly Partner with roofing exclusivity, $1,000/month for 12 months
- 4 top placements a month
- 1 sponsored feature a month, clearly labeled
- Your logo in every issue
- No other roofer advertises with us for the full year

Next step: reply by October 24 and your first placement runs in our Tuesday, November 4 issue.

Questions

What should I charge if I've never sold an ad?

The skill gives example starting points, like a $250 newsletter feature or a 12-month bundle around $1,000 a month, and shows the math to adjust them to your audience size. They are clearly labeled as examples. Your own prices always replace them.

Why only one recommended package?

A menu of six options makes the owner do your job, and they usually pick the cheapest or nothing. One recommendation with one step up and one step down is easier to say yes to.

Can I offer category exclusivity?

Yes, but only on annual commitments and only for high-ticket categories like roofers, banks and realtors. Quarterly buyers get first right to the exclusive. Restaurants never get exclusivity because you want many of them.
